Library Goals
The Goals of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Library include providing
the following:
- Scientific information, both current and retrospective.
- Access to computerized information sources.
- Timely information for departments and support staff.
- Current materials of general interest for staff and their families.
Library Hours
Main Library in the Carnegie Building
Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
CSHL staff have 24 hour access to the Library with a PIN.
Other Library Collections
Specialized subject collections of books and journals are found
in Delbrück, James, Marks, Woodbury, and Neuroscience buildings
(see map). Please contact Main Library
staff if you need help finding something at one of these locations.
Computers are available in these libraries.
Circulation Policy
We use the honor system, hoping patrons respect each other's needs.
Books circulate to Laboratory staff members only. Please fill out
a book card at the lobby table as you leave. Journals and reference
materials do not circulate.
Visitor Hours:
The CSHL Main Library is open, by appointment
only, to outside students and researchers who need to use our unique
molecular biology and genetics collection. Please call (516)367-6872

Photocopy Services for Visitors:
Visitors may use the black and white
(15¢ per page) or color photocopiers
(75¢ per page) to copy pages from library books and journals for
personal use. CSHL staff have priority on the photocopiers. Users
are responsible for adhering to all copyright restrictions.
